Sprout Day 183 (Monday, September 26, 2016)

We were surprised to wake up to rain. We knew it was supposed to rain in the afternoon but thought we would have good weather in the morning.

We got up, packed, and tried to figure out the best plan for the day. Since the weather was looking horrible and storms were moving in later in the day we decided to slack pack 6 miles from where we got off trail and hike back to four pines.

It was a good move. We got the six miles done and were back to the hostel right as the storms started. It rained most of the day with thunder and lightning; we were happy to be in a safe dry place for the day.

For the most part we relaxed all day. We went with the shuttle driver to drop someone off at the airport. He was going to stop at Walmart on the way home and we wanted to get a few things from the store. We all pitched in a got a few frozen pizzas and some ice cream and apple pie.

A few different hikers showed up throughout the day. This is an interesting place and it seems like we got here just in time to meet some interesting hikers. It's been great being here we've had fun and it felt good to stay dry when it was raining.

We're going to get up tomorrow, have breakfast, and make our way to the trail. It should be a great day for hiking it's supposed to be in the low 70's.

Smudgy Cheeks Day 139 (Saturday, August 13th, 2016)

I hiked 16.7 miles today.  We slack packed over the Bigelows.  It rained all day and there were no views so I didn't even take out my phone to take pictures.  We wanted to just get this part of the hike over with because it's the last big mountain range before Katahdin!!

Bubbles Day 75 (Friday, June 10th, 2016)

We woke up and I was instantly sad that we would be leaving my besties.  We made cowboy coffee and came to the conclusion that we needed more time together!  Karma and Mountain Man offered to slack pack us, if we could get another campsite at the state park.  We got a campsite and were super excited. We had to move campsites but we didn't care.  

We got on the trail around 11:00 am and hiked about 14 miles.  I just wanted the hike to be over so I could spend some time with my besties.  My left knee has started to bother me, a lot. Hopefully it gets better.

Right before I got to the road I received a video my brother-in-law, Frederic, playing Fernando on his guitar.  We put the video on in the van and all listened to it together.

We went to the grocery store and Whiskers, Robby, and I bought the food for the night.  We wanted to provide some trail magic to Karma and Mountain Man since they have been so wonderful to us.  We spent another night together laughing and enjoying our time together.

Sprout Day 32 (Thursday, April 28, 2016)

Trail Magic.  Thank you!!

We had such an amazing time at the Doyle, and had so much fun with Tricks, that we decided we needed another night!  Tricks was down with the idea and said he would drive us ten miles up the trail so we could hike south back to the Doyle and stay another night.

Last night Tricks played some hiking documentaries for us and we plan on watching a couple more tonight.  He had a projection screen and plays the movies on the wall. It was awesome, he had sandwiches and Gatorade for us and a bunch of other snacks! It's nice to get support and great advice from an experienced hiker. I'm excited to eat again at the Doyle too, lol!!
